The 2007 holiday season numbers are in for the HACAP Food Reservoir.
• During November and December the Food Reservoir matched 298 families in the Adopt-a-Family Program with donors who provided food, gifts and delivery this past December.
• Coordinated the home delivery of food to over 800 families this past holiday season. KCRG-TV, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Linn County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association provided the food boxes.
• Provided 1,125 food boxes for distribution to Linn County families during the mass distribution Dec. 17 & 18 and 101 food boxes to home-bound seniors.
• Continues to distribute emergency food boxes to the HACAP Family Resource Centers. Washington Co. received 125 in December and 100 in January. Jones Co. received 50 and 75 respectively. Currently 5 Linn County centers order approximately 15 boxes each a month. These numbers are increasing.
The Food Reservoir Program distributes approximately 1.3 million pounds of food every year to local organizations; provides over 5,000 food boxes a year for families in need;
serves as a clearinghouse and food distributor for Holiday Assistance Programs, which help over 2,800 families annual; operates the HACAP Adopt-a-Family Program that links over 300 families with individuals and organizations wishing to donate food and gifts to needy families; and saves the 116 member agencies over $2,000,000 in food costs, based on wholesale costs, thereby allowing them to spend those funds on other program activities and services.
