HACAP has announced that a recently acquired property in Cedar Rapids will be converted into the Don Maniccia House for Chronically Homeless Individuals as part of the Chronically Homeless Project.
The former apartment located at 1225 2nd Avenue SE will undergo extensive renovations as it is converted to an eight unit complex. The announcement was made at a July 12th reception in honor of former HACAP CEO Don Maniccia who recently stepped down after 25 years of service.
The Chronically Homeless Project is aimed at bringing adult individuals with a disabling condition who have been continuously homeless in from the cold. This community improvement project focuses on housing first, stabilizing an individual’s life through safe housing. HACAP social workers will provide general needs assessments for harm reduction and assist program residents in creating an action plan for returning to society as functioning members of our community.
