The Iowa Utilities Board’s most recent moratorium report on Iowa Electric and Natural Gas Utilities shows that the gas and electric linear disconnect/reconnect gap through September to stand near 4,800 disconnects and near 2,900 reconnects creating a gap of near 2,000 households. Through September 2002 the gap was near 1,500 households.
The report also reveals that the linear number of energy assistance accounts past due stood at around 27,000 through September of 2007, up 10,000 from the same time in 2002.
The linear number of disconnection notices to energy assistance recipients through September 2007 stands at roughly 6,000 notices, up nearly 2,000 from the same time in 2002.
The linear number of general residential accounts past due stood at 220,000 through September 2007, up roughly 60,000 from the same time in 2002.
The linear number of general residential accounts deemed uncollectible stood at near 5250 accounts through September 2007, up roughly 850 accounts from the same time in 2002.
The linear number of write-offs of energy assistance accounts stood at near 1,200 through September 2007, up nearly 700 from the same time in 2002.
YTD LiHEAP applications stand at 3192 approved up from 3025 this time last year. FY07 totaled 6832 approved applications.
Federal funding for LIHEAP in Iowa for fiscal year 2007 totaled $36,343,186. LIHEAP income eligibility level is set at 150% of the federal poverty level.
