PACES is proud to announce that Kim Wink of Cedar Rapids has earned National Accreditation through National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC), the only family child care accrediting body in the nation. Ms. Wink has operated her child care program, Kimmy’s Kids, since 1988. Ms. Wink is the first accredited provider in Linn County, and only the ninth child care home provider in Iowa to receive this honor.
NAFCC Accreditation defines standards of quality for the profession of family child care. Family child care providers who choose to become accredited as Kim has, recognize the importance of a child’s early years and work to provide a standard of excellence that both nurtures and educates young minds.
Kim has received technical assistance and funding support from the Provider & Child Education Services (PACES) program during the accreditation process. Kim Wink has been an active participant in the program for over four years.
When asked what she learned from the accreditation process, Kim replied, “It takes a lot of work but with my friends at HACAP we made it possible for my dream to come true. Hard work pays off in a lot of ways. I feel I can even more now help the children grow.”
As of May 2007, there are 2,070 accredited programs nationwide. For more information regarding accreditation or NAFCC, please see their website at www.nafcc.org.
