Approximately 1,250 children under age six lived in the flood affected areas of Linn County. Child health advocates estimate that over 200 of these children may experience on-going anxiety, depression and other behaviorial changes.

Three Linn County family child care providers have earned national accreditation through the National Association for Family Child Care. Saundra Dygert, Vicki Early, and Amy Speed all achieved NAFCC Accreditation in June of 2008.
