Using funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, HACAP has developed the Family Development Program. The Family Development Program is designed to strengthen families by helping family members identify his/her individual barriers to obtaining or retaining employment. The Low-Income Client Needs Assessments identify a wide-range of issues that prevent an individual from obtaining or retaining employment. Those issues include: lack of transportation, inferior job skills, threat of losing home or utilities, and lack of after school supervision, among others. The program is an individually designed process that may link a family with transportation, after-school activities, job training services, housing stability resources or personal and family development activities that assist the client in getting and keeping employment.
HACAP employs a number of Family Advocates to aid in executing this program. The Family Advocates purpose is to help families identify their individual barriers to obtaining or retaining employment. The Family Advocates are experts in local resources, personal development and coaching entire families on how to help the household become self-sufficient.
