HACAP mobile pantry feeds families with assistance from Alliant Energy
Event kicks off new mobile pantry truck’s service to area communities
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – July 15, 2016 – Area families facing food insecurity will have expanded opportunities to receive healthy options through a new mobile pantry truck operated by the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP).
The truck’s purchase was made possible through a $77,000 grant from Alliant Energy. Events on Monday, July 18, will celebrate the grant and the mobile pantry’s fresh food deliveries. The truck will be unveiled at a 10:30 a.m. ceremony at the Alliant Tower. It will then depart for a Mobile Market in southwest Cedar Rapids at noon.
“We hope that you can join us as HACAP introduces the newest addition to our fleet as a result of Alliant Energy’s generous donation,” said Jane Drapeaux, HACAP president & CEO. “Because of Alliant Energy’s donation, the Mobile Food Pantry will allow us to feed the hungry more efficiently than ever before within our seven-county service area.”
For Alliant Energy, the grant demonstrates its dedication to strengthening the communities it serves.
“We are pleased to contribute resources to help the HACAP Food Reservoir provide healthy food options to those in need,” said Linda Mattes, vice president – Energy Delivery Operations for Alliant Energy. “The needs continue to grow in our communities, and Alliant Energy is proud to partner with non-profits that are helping our customers succeed.”
