National Weatherization Day October 30

October 29, 2020

NATIONWIDE  – October 30th is National Weatherization Day—a day that’s meant to highlight the impact of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), which saves energy and improves the health and safety of homes.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) WAP was created in 1976 to assist low-income families who lacked resources to invest in energy efficiency. Borne out of the oil-crisis of the 1970s, WAP has become the nation’s largest whole-house home energy upgrade program. The program operates in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Native American tribes, and U.S. Territories. The program supports 8,500 jobs and provides weatherization services to approximately 35,000 homes every year using DOE funds. Read the full story here: https://bit.ly/2Tw9uoK.
