Together Early Childhood Iowa and HACAP, Linn County provide $10,000 in cleaning materials for childcare providers as part of ‘Bountiful Consumables’ event

HIAWATHA, Iowa - HACAP’s Paces to Quality program, with funding from Linn County Early Childhood Iowa and support from the HACAP Childcare Nurse Consultant, held a Bountiful Consumables event at the end of November that provided $10,000 in much needed cleaning and paper products such as gloves, disinfectant wipes, and paper towels to Linn County registered/licensed childcare programs as a way to thank childcare providers for their hard work during the pandemic.

“Childcare providers are critical to this community as we continue to recover from the pandemic,” - Amy Grunewaldt, Early Childhood Iowa Director, “working with HACAP to provide some essential items to show our continued support of their essential work is the least we can do.” A total of 66 childcare businesses were served from the $10,000 (34 licensed centers and 32 registered child development homes). In addition, Child Care Resource and Referral, provided hand soap to 28 Linn County programs.

“We are extremely grateful for the help with disposable plates and cups for meal service. It has been very difficult as of late to receive these items from our regular supplier. We prefer to use the disposable products during the pandemic to keep down the spread of germs and to help when staffing is tight due to illness exclusions.” - Laura Cook, KinderCare Northeast Director
