Volunteer
At HACAP, we believe that our volunteers are the heartbeat of our mission. Each year, over 2,500 dedicated individuals come together to empower others, helping people develop essential skills for success and fostering resilient communities. By volunteering with us, you’re not just giving your time—you’re becoming part of a movement that transforms lives. Join us in making a meaningful impact and experience the joy of contributing to something bigger than yourself! Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate future for everyone in our community. Your involvement, no matter the size, creates ripples of positive change that last a lifetime.
Adopt A Classroom
HACAP’s goal is to provide essential resources to children during this critical time of growth to prepare each child, and their family, for success in school and in life. We operate 24 Head Start Centers in Linn, Johnson, Benton, Jones, Dubuque, Jackson, Delaware and Washington Counties, and funding to supply those classrooms with the items necessary to promote positive early development only goes so far – this is where we rely heavily on support from our community partners who are passionate about the development of our community’s youth. Our Head Start centers are always in need of a fresh stock of art supplies, Picture/Board books, Toys, Games and other developmentally appropriate activities. For questions, or to be matched with a local classroom, contact Jackie Schropp (319) 739-0004 or email jschropp@hacap.org.
Hold a Food Drive
Organize a food drive in your community, workplace, or school to collect non-perishable items. Your efforts can help us stock our food pantry and provide nourishment to families facing food insecurity. To get started on holding your own food drive, contact the HACAP Food Reservoir by emailing foodreservior@hacap.org or call 319-393-7811 (press 2).
