Why Miss Mission USA Volunteers at HACAP
From participating in pageants, to picking orders in our warehouse, Miss Mission USA, Erica Ly, explains why she has picked food insecurity as her platform. Erica told us, "I truly believe having or not having meals affects your success". In addition to volunteering with the HACAP Food Reservoir, Erica also gives back with the North Liberty Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels in Johnson County. "Everyone deserves to be free from hunger", said Erica.
Erica's Dad grew up living in poverty in Vietnam until the age of 12. Growing up, Erica's dad always made sure that her, and her brother had food. "He was a good cook who taught us about his culture with food”.
Food Insecurity
Join us in the fight against food insecurity by volunteering at HACAP. Our facilities serve as a vital hub, distributing millions of pounds of food each year to food pantries, non-profit organizations, churches, and school programs throughout Eastern Iowa. Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring that food reaches our neighbors in need swiftly and efficiently.
