get involved today
Every day across Eastern Iowa, neighbors show up for one another. At HACAP, volunteers are a vital part of that story. Whether it’s sorting food in the Food Reservoir, supporting early childhood classrooms, helping families access resources, or lending a hand behind the scenes, volunteers help turn care into action. Each hour given helps meet real needs, and reminds people they’re not facing challenges alone.
For many volunteers, the work becomes more than a task. It becomes connection. A shared purpose. A place where effort matters and every contribution counts. Some come for a single shift. You can easily sign up for a volunteer shift with HACAP through our online portal, where you can browse a variety of opportunities to give back to the community. Once signed up, you'll have access to view our greatest needs.
Shared Purpose, Real Impact
For the past five years, Deb and Dennis have been volunteering weekly at the Food Reservoir Warehouse. Dennis laughs, “Picking orders is certainly a good workout!” But it’s not just the work that keeps them coming back. “The team is very welcoming and great to work with,” they add, emphasizing that the people and the shared purpose make every shift meaningful.
