HACAP Names Aron Brecht as Next Food Reservoir Director
HIAWATHA, Iowa (February 12, 2026) – HACAP (Hawkeye Area Community Action Program) announces Aron Brecht as the next Director of the HACAP Food Reservoir, strengthening its commitment to food access and community partnerships across Eastern Iowa.
Brecht brings more than six years of experience within HACAP to the role, most recently serving as Community Food Systems Manager for the Food Reservoir. In that position, he played a key role in building strong relationships with local food producers and sourcing institutions, while also providing advocacy at the governmental level to support policies that strengthen food systems and reduce hunger.
“Aron’s leadership reflects both a deep knowledge and a genuine commitment to our mission,” said COO Kim Guardado. “His journey at HACAP embodies what community action is all about, leading with purpose.”
Before joining HACAP, Brecht served as Community Relations Manager for the Cedar Rapids Kernels. In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of Minor League Baseball, Brecht joined HACAP as a temporary Warehouse Technician to support emergency food response efforts. What began as a short-term role quickly became a long-term commitment to serving the community.
Since then, Brecht has held several roles within the Food Reservoir, including Volunteer Coordinator, where he worked closely with community members whose time and dedication help power HACAP’s hunger-relief efforts. His experience across warehouse operations, volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and advocacy uniquely positions him to lead the Food Reservoir into its next chapter.
Brecht succeeds Kim Guardado, who was promoted to Chief Operating Officer last month.
