HACAP Names Debbie Ackerman as Next Health Alliance Director

Longtime HACAP team member steps into new role within organization 

HIAWATHA, Iowa (June 23, 2026) – Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) is pleased to announce that Debbie Ackerman, current Johnson County, Community Building & Engagement Director, will become the next director of HACAP’s Family & Community Health Alliance Program, which oversees WIC, I-Smile, Hawki, and many other valuable resources. 

Ackerman has been with HACAP for a total of 14 years having worked in HACAP’s housing, health alliance, RED Ahead, and community engagement programs. Ackerman will be taking over for outgoing Health Alliance Director, Diana Strahan, who will be taking a new role with North Iowa Community Action Organization in Mason City, IA. Ackerman will fully step into the role of the Health Alliance Director on July 1.
