HACAP Promotes Kim Guardado to Chief Operating Officer

HIAWATHA, Iowa (January 9, 2026) – Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) is announcing the promotion of Kim Guardado, who currently serves as Food Reservoir Director, to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) starting this month. Guardado brings 24 years of dedicated service to HACAP and a lifelong commitment to improving the health and well‑being of individuals and families experiencing poverty.

In 2018, Guardado became HACAP’s Food Reservoir Director, concentrating her efforts on fighting hunger in our community. Under her leadership, Guardado worked to guide the Food Reservoir through the COVID‑19 pandemic and Derecho, ensuring neighbors had access to food during some of the area’s toughest times.

“Kim’s dedication to the mission of community action, to help individuals develop skills and build strong communities, makes her a great choice to help lead and guide HACAP for years to come", said HACAP CEO Matt Majeski.

With a background in nursing, Guardado has spent her career serving those most in need. Before serving as Food Reservoir Director, Guardado oversaw HACAP’s Family & Community Health Alliance division, where she spent 16 years advancing health services.

Guardado takes over for current HACAP CEO, Matt Majeski, who was recently promoted to CEO at the beginning of the year following the retirement of Jane Drapeaux.
