HACAP Looking for Donors to Support Families in Need this Holiday Season
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 2nd, 2015
Hiawatha, IA – Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc. (HACAP) is in search of donors wishing to help out families in need this holiday season and support the greater demand for HACAP’s Adopt-A-Family Program: seasonal assistance available to local, food insecure families. Due to the growth of Operation BackPack, the number of eligible families in Linn County has nearly doubled since the 2014 holiday season, when community donors helped HACAP support 514 local families. This year, HACAP expects to receive more than 1,000 applications before the end of December.
“The overall mission of the program is to help families provide their kids with the holiday traditions that they otherwise would not be able to afford. The Adopt-A-Family program gives members of our community the chance to leave a local family with a happier, less stressful holiday season.” - Chris Ackman, Communication & Marketing Specialist
Donors who are looking to support a family this holiday season through the Adopt-A-Family program can sign up and see a step-by-step guide on how to help by visiting HACAP online at www.hacap.org/how-to-help/holiday-assistance/. For any specific questions on how the program operates, potential donors can email any comments or concerns to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for donors to be a part of the program is December 18th, 2015.
