HACAP Adds New Program, Family Learning Connection

HACAP added the Family Learning Connection to its list of over 45 initiatives on September 17, 2022. The Family Learning Connection (FLC) is program that is committed to increasing the capacity of the community to provide ongoing parenting education, professional development, and access to resources in order to facilitate the development of caring, competent, healthy children. 
 
Previously, FLC was a program underneath the Iowa State Extension & Outreach. Since 1999, FLC (formerly known as Parent Education Consortium) has been a resource available to any parent of young children with help of Linn County Early Childhood Iowa funds. Services provided by FLC include: 
 
  • Parenting Workshops 
  • Family Resource Materials 
  • Group Presentations (Lunch and Learn, no cost to employers) 
  • Serves Linn County
  • Specialized classes include: co-parenting, grandparenting, single parenting, parenting young children in a new country and positive solutions for families
