CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Officials from the City of Cedar Rapids gathered Friday afternoon to hold a ribbon cutting for ‘The Heights’, a new affordable housing building in downtown Cedar Rapids, along with HACAP staff. HACAP will oversee The Heights after the city's 7 million dollar investment into the community that will aim to combat local homelessness. In total, The Heights will house 25 units with 6 of those being ADA compliant for individuals with a disability.

“How fortunate we are to have the folks at HACAP willing to raise their hand and be the stewards and the shepherd of this incredible project,” said Cedar Rapids Mayor, Tiffany O’Donnell.

HACAP would like to thank the City of Cedar Rapids, Iowa Economic Development, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Emergent Architecture for making this project possible, and Hills Bank for helping to furnish the units shown during Friday’s open house.

"As many of you know, Affordable Housing is a great need in our community. With the addition of The Heights, we will now be able to provide more low-income families with a roof over their heads in Cedar Rapids. One of the greatest things about our city is how non-profits, organizations, and city officials all come together for the greater good of our neighbors in need,” said HACAP Board President, John Brandt.

Individuals can email housing@hacap.org to request to be put on the interest list to be contacted when the application is released.
