About Embrace Iowa
Embrace Iowa is a collaborative initiative between ICAA, a 501c3 nonprofit, and the Des Moines Register, dedicated to helping Iowans in need. Through powerful storytelling, the Des Moines Register highlights the real-life challenges faced by Iowa families struggling to meet basic needs, raising awareness about the barriers to improving their lives. The campaign educates the public about the complexities of poverty, fostering a spirit of generosity. During the 2022-2023 campaign, Embrace Iowa raised $343,000 to assist 645 families, and funds from the 2023-2024 campaign, starting in December 2023, will continue to provide crucial support. Eligible households can receive up to $750 for essential needs such as car repairs, appliances, medical care, and more, helping to remove barriers and improve quality of life for families across the state.
