
Together Early Childhood Iowa and HACAP, Linn County provide $10,000 in cleaning materials for childcare providers as part of ‘Bountiful Consumables’ event
HACAP’s Paces to Quality program, with funding from Linn County Early Childhood Iowa and support from the HACAP Childcare Nurse Consultant, held a Bountiful Consumables event at the end of November that provided $10,000 in much needed cleaning and paper products such as gloves, disinfectant wipes, and paper towels to Linn County registered/licensed childcare programs as a way to thank childcare providers for their hard work during the pandemic.

HACAP in Need of Staff to Keep Essential Community Services Running
The current labor shortage has left community action agency, HACAP, with a total of 35 open positions that span across 9 counties in eastern Iowa threatening the need for essential services to low-income families. Many of the open positions currently available are for teachers within HACAP's early childhood preschool program, Head Start.

Paces to Quality Awarded Rural Childcare Derecho Recovery Grant to Help Providers
Childcare providers who are located in rural Linn or Benton county and outside of the 52401, 52405, 52302, and 52233 zip codes may be eligible to receive a recovery grant of anywhere between $500-$2,000. Applications are being accepted now through December 2021 or until funds are exhausted.

New Child Tax Credit Payments Start on July 15
Starting July 15, Iowa families will begin receiving monthly payments directly to their bank account or mailboxes thanks to the Biden Administration's American Rescue Plan. The expansion of the Child Tax Credit will provide $250 per child ages six through 17 and $300 per child under the age of six.
